About Me
I began my fitness journey at the tender age of 16 when I started lifting weights to get better at my chosen sport, wrestling. Back then, I was a wiry 95 lbs. I can’t say I was a weakling because even at that weight, I possessed a natural strength.
After working out for about a year, my weight “skyrocketed” up to 110 lbs. At the time, I could squat 275 lbs, and deadlift 315 lbs. My bench was never that good. I maxed out at 155 lbs, but overall, not too bad for a skinny kid.
Fast forward to college. I was young and my goal was to be as huge as possible. Entering my freshman year, I weighed 125 lbs. I worked out hard that summer before my sophomore year, ate everything in sight, and got my weight up to 145 lbs. I was very strong too. My bench went up to 215, and I could do reps with 315 in the squat and deadlift.
For me, that was a huge deal.
My college days are long past, but I’ve stayed active in the fitness game for all of these years. I’m 36 years old now, and am currently on active duty serving in the U.S. Navy.
My goals have changed since my high school and college days. I no longer work out to improve my sport, or to bulk up, or to be as strong as possible. I now work out to stay slim and fit, both for my job where I am required to be fit, and also for my own personal well being.
My problem these days, now that my metabolism has slowed down, is keeping the weight off of my belly. In the past, I boasted a six pack without even trying. Now, I have to work hard just to maintain my body fat at around 10 % year round.
My study of fitness, and how I view it, has changed too as I’ve grown older. I used to read everything I could on gaining muscle, and strength. Now, I focus my studies on fat loss, and functional fitness.
As part of my self-education, I visit forums, and even Yahoo Answers in an attempt to find out what people such as you really want, or need to know about fat loss.
I am appalled by some of the information (or should I say, mis-information) being thrown around and touted as fact. It’s amazing what people believe about what constitutes effective weight loss.
I started this website in an effort to educate, and to spread the right information around so that people such as you will know the truth about fat loss and what it takes to be fit, strong, and healthy at any age.
It is my hope that you will find the information contained here useful, and that you will keep coming back. As you keep coming back and leave comments, everyone will benefit because you will show me how to make this site even better.
